Vera Wang, Proenza Schouler and Oscar de la Renta won the CFDA awards.
Monday 3th of june the yearly CFDA Awards, the Oscars of fashion took place. The Alice Tully Hall was filled with designers, models and stars. Guest of honor of the evening was designer Oscar de la Renta, of whome everyone already knew that he would receive the pretigious Founders award of the hands of his good friend Hillary Clinton. Clinton who knows her friend for many years praised him not only for his great career over the last fifty years but also for his way of live. Clinton called it a great immigrant story and an example for all the different minorities in the US. The Womens wear Designer of the Year became a battle between Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, better known as Proenza Schouler, in the end went home with the prestigious award. Pamela Love won the Swarovski Accessory Design Award and Thom Brown the award for the Mens wear Designer of the Year. There was a special moment for Vera Wang, who got the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award out of the hands of her former boss Ralph Lauren. He Asked Wang if now it was time for him to retire. She answered with a smile and said “Perhaps this is a sign. It is an honour to receive this award.” Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci won a price too.
