Carmen Dell’Orefice body for hire – Carmen Dell’Orefice is going to be 84 this year, but after more than 6 decades she is still not done posing. ‘I see myself as a ‘ body for hire'”. In January 2013 she made her appearance at the Paris Fashion Week. Stately and beautiful like a white Swan she walked the catwalk for the haute couture show of Stephane Rolland. While other women of her age, only go out to play bingo, Carmen is still enjoying life to the full.

Only just In september 2012 she run two shows in 1 day during the New York Fashion Week. “Why limit yourself to stumble in support stockings to the grocery store, if there is still so much to do? “I do not know if it is something good or if I’m making a fool of myself,” Carmen answered to a question where she got the energy to keep modelling. “But it’s something I really enjoy, and I am still able to do it”.

With a career of more than sixty years, it is no surprise that running shows and posing comes naturally to Carmen. This ‘old warhorse is longer around than New York Fashion Week itself’. The American model of Hungarian-Italian descent was dicoverd when she was thirteen, in a bus in New York when she was on her way to a ballet class. Shortly thereafter she posed topless for the painter Salvador Dali in the St. Regis Hotel. As payment, he offered her twelve dollars an hour or an original sketch of his hand. In her heart she wanted the sketch,  but she chose the money. which she and her mother, who raised her by herselve, needed more.

Since her first Vogue cover in 1947, when she was only 16 , at that time the youngest ever, she issued hundreds of covers, she walked thousands of shows and she worked with all the big fashion names. Carmen became a living legend and the ultimate example of the confident chic Lady. “Always look for the positive in life. The alternative is simply unacceptable at this stage of my life”
