MISS PIGGY in Holy Matrimony? Miss Piggy has enlisted famous designer Vivienne Westwood to design a wedding dress. Although her beloved Kermit has not yet proposed to her, the iconic puppet is ready for when the big day ever happens. The cream-coloured couture gown, which features in new Disney-movie Muppets Most Wanted, is decorated in paillettes made of recycled water bottles, and is accessorised with a tulle veil and a green-white bouquet of flowers.
“Vivienne Westwood is fabulous – just like moi,” said Miss Piggy. “When I asked her to design this wedding dress for moi’s new movie, Muppets Most Wanted, she was thrilled and I was thrilled. The only one who had his doubts about the wedding-gown was Kermy.”
“The dress is made in one of my favorite styles and is inspired by English Queens from the 17th century,” said the 72-year old Westwood to Harper’s Bazaar. Miss Piggy is not the first fictional character Vivienne Westwood dresses. The designer created a wedding dress for Carrie Bradshaw in the the Sex and The City-movie.
Westwood has also designed a series of other outfits for Miss Piggy to wear in the film, including a Harris Tweed coat with matching beret and a silver, hand-embroidered floral lace gown. The self-assured, passionate and glamourous star of the Muppet-show previously worked with brands including Louis Vuitton, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc jacobs and OPI. In 2011 she was the face of MAC-makeup.
