Woolmark International Prize – All the candidates who are in the running for the third international Woolmark Prize have been announced. 62 candidates will each design a collection in merino wool, and after that there will be ten designers to be selected for the final, that will take place early 2015.
First designer Rahul Mishra received the International Woolmark Prize as the winner of the women’s ready-to-wear collection in february. After that, the Woolmark Compagny revealed the names of of the 62 designers, that were selected for the next edition of this prestigious competition. The selected designers were chosen by a professional fashion jury and came from five different regions. India and the Middle East, the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia. The next step is for each region to organize their own design contest. In the end the jury will choose the 10 finalists who will stay in the running for the Woolmark Prize. The 10 who make the final will receive AUS $500,000 which will help them create a collection to show at the big final. For the first time this year, there will be two winners, who will receive the prize, one for menswear and one for womenswear. The five menswear finalists will present their collections at London’s menswear Fashion Week, in January 2015, and the five womenswear finalists will be running their show in Peking in March 2015.
