Mercedes Benz Fashion Week recently reported to The Wall Street Journal that they are cutting 20% of the media-go invitations in February. They only want to invite guests that actually can do something for the brands. In other words, many bloggers are deleted from the list.
In september Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and owner of IMG Fashion, told that it was time to get more exclusive. Bloggers took places of buyers during the shows, and according to Mallis this should change. Catherine Bennett, Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion last said: “it is really a Zoo! What used to be a platform for designers to show their collections to buyers and the media has turned into a chaotic and tiring process for the fashion industry. “
Some designers had already complained that Fashion Week was too chaotic and was no longer exclusive. So gave Oscar de la Renta a show for only 350 people for his Spring/Summer collection.
