Two graduate designers from the Academy in Antwerp win BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
Tonight in London was announced that Peter Pilotto has won the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2014.. The designer was chosen from a list of six designers established in England. The finalists were: Osman, Zoë Jordan, Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, House of Holland and Emilia Wickstead.
The designer duo behind Peter Pilotto are the Belgian/Peruvian Christopher de Vos and the Austrian/Italian Peter Pilotto. They received a prize of 200,000 pounds. In addition the designers will be acompanied in the next year and a half by the best people in the busines, achieve further goals.
De Vos and Pilotto met at the Academy in Antwerp, where they both graduated in 2000. The two were well known for their graphic prints and well cut short dresses. The duo already designed a collection for Target. In previous years, the award has been won by Christopher Kane, Erdem and Nicholas Kirkwood.
After Peter Pilotto and his partner Christopher de Vos were named as the winners, Peter commented : “WE’RE so relieved it’s over! It’s been so stressful just waiting for this night, I’ve had back pain! I had to see an osteopath because of the stressl! We’re just so proud and relieved..”
“We were asked, how we would spend the money we won and of course; what our plans were. “We thought a lot about what the next year will bring,” De Vos said “We’ are very excited to take the next step in our business. Winning the fund makes an incredible difference to us.”
