PARIS FASHION WEEK is starting, worldwide seen as the mothership of the fashion calendar, but this time with an important addition. The debut of Nicolas Ghesquière‘s for Louis Vuitton.
We all look forward to Raf Simon’s chic elegance for Dior and to ‘Kaiser’ Karl Lagerfeld’s as always spectacular show, but the debut of Ghesquière for Vuitton is a change everyone is very curious about, after Marc Jacobs being 16 years in charge of the brand’s designs. As creative director of Balenciaga, Ghesquière was known for bringing a new sense of modernity to the brand. Now everyone is expecting the same renewing originality for his new employer.
But before we see the new Louis Vuitton collection, we’ll see the craftsmanship and detailed innovation that the Paris fashion week is known for, with Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin , Balenciaga and Haider Ackermann coming to the city of light, which is already the catwalk hometown of brands such as Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Valentino. In addition we see avant-garde labels such as Gareth Pugh and Comme des Garçons. We also are very curious to the first show as creative director from Allesandro Dell’Acqua for Rochas.
The next week we will see what the stars will be wearing next season an the retailers will fill their shops with. Phoebe Philo, theVogue Festival speaker always gets wish lists with the most conveted creations. On this list will more than probably be the names of Celine, Kenzo, Sain Laurent, Isabel Marant, Carven and Miu Miu, with their campaign stars Lupita Nyong’o and Elizabeth Olsen, who will as being one of the last shows this week, make sure, it will be exiting till the end.
