RAPHAEL YOUNG seduced by Raoul – Designer Raphael Young was enlisted in september 2013 by singapore based label Raoul to head up the accesories category. Now the designer is debuting his first collection for the brand, this was unveiled in New York last week. This could well be the start of a big expansion.
“I like challenges, and creating the complete line of accessories for this label seduced me,” said Young. “I was asked to create a strong identity and, at the same time, to build the business. Odile and Douglas have great ambition and want to become a major player into the fashion business and obviously shoes and bags are indispensable to expand the label in terms of revenues and brand awareness.”
Young met the founders of the brand, Douglas ans Odile Benjamin through a mutual friend, who happened to be a headhunter. A series of meetings followed, and it was quickly decided that Young’s simple yet sculptured designs would be a good fit for Raoul., which is known for its understated luxe.
“The work of the shapes and volume are something that I pay a lot of attention to,” said Young. “I like it when shoes are bold and luxurious; when heels and hardwares are minimal and complex at the same time – it creates something cool and beautiful to look at. I definitely gave force and a luxury direction that is important to me, even if we have worked a lot to keep prices very attractive for a mid-luxury positioning.”
He describes his first collection as glamorous, minimal and chic He hopes that his creations for Raoul will have a far-ranging appeal.
“The range is for all women who want to be unique,” he said.. Prices are really good and affordable, although they arre still made in Italy. Take a look at the first exclusive sketches
