Vivienne Westwood Poses for the Artic
Vivienne Westwood is long supporter of preserving the world. Fore a campaign to save the Artic, as part of her Climate Revolution campaign, she teamed up with Greenpeace. The Arctic is one of the last untouched places on earth and Greenpeace and Westwood hope to protect the region for future generations. They got a host of famous people to pose for a series of portaits. The photos are part of the Greenpeace Save The Arctic campaign, which is pushing for the creation of a global sanctuary in the uninhabited area around the North Pole and a ban on offshore oil drilling and industrial fishing in the wider Arctic region.
“People don’t realise how quickly we are marching towards a possible mass extinction,”Westwood said. “Once the global temperature goes up beyond two degrees, you can’t stop it. Current predictions are that we will see a rise of 4 to 6C, which would mean that everything below Paris would become uninhabitable.”
Photographer Andy Gotts captured amongst others: Georgia May Jagger, Paloma Faith, Jerry Hall, George Clooney, Chris Martin, Monty Python’s Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam and of course Vivienne Westwood.
