Zac Posen designs for theatre piece about Rita Hayworth

Zac Posen, the American fashion designer is going to design costumes for a play called Private Dancer, about the tragic life of the legendary film star Rita Hayworth.

The play tells the life-story of the actress, best known for the film Gilda (1946). Her life was marked by excessive drinking. In addition, Hayworth was affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The premiere of the piece will be at the beginning of december 2013 in New York, reports the Daily Mail.

The originators of the piece asked the 33-year-old Posen to design dramatic costumes for the piece. The clothes will be all the way in the style of the forties, the most successful period of Hayworth. The designs of Zac Posen fit in perfectly with the time spirit of the play, according to the  theatre makers.

Private Dancer has its premiere in december in New York.

Zac Posen is best known for his evening wear. Stars like Naomi Campbell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Winslet and Claire Danes are regularly seen in his designs. In addition, Posen every year shows his new collections at the fashion week in New York.
